Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources has implemented the Government Leadership Preparation diploma in cooperation with the University of Sharjah, targeting the second-level leaders from among Department Managers, Heads of Sections and Supervisors at the Departments as well as Authorities and Institutes of the Government of Sharjah in the Eastern Region.
The professional diploma’s curriculum is held for 20 days at the headquarters of the University of Sharjah in Kalba, aiming at providing the participants with leadership and management skills, enabling them to carry out leadership tasks more effectively on the various aspects of administrative work. Upon completion of the programme, the participants obtain an accredited Professional Diploma in Government Leadership Preparation issued by the University of Sharjah.
The programme focuses on many important topics, most notably the identification of the forms, uses, systems and developed techniques of communication, active participation in important decision-making, formation, management and leadership of various teams in the concerned sections and departments, effective interpersonal skills to deal with colleagues, superiors, customers and suppliers, training subsidiaries, evaluating and developing their performance continually, inspiring teamwork, ability to organise and simplify work, applying the best practices, the best use of human and financial resources, reducing cost elements, and successful strategic planning of the works of various sections and departments.
Concerning the professional diplomas, HE Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim, member of Sharjah Executive Council, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, explained that the Directorate attaches great importance to the development of human resources, providing them with knowledge, skills and capacities through the development plans and programmes in order to enable them to achieve the highest levels of competence when placed in the middle of execution and practice.
He added that the Directorate focuses, within its training plans and programmes, on the implementation of leadership programmes and diplomas according to the best approved standards and practices, in order to improve the readiness of the second and third- level leaders to carry out their role efficiently and effectively in the future, and to acquire the capacity to innovate, create and anticipate the future in light of modern technology. The Directorate also focuses on qualifying the future leaders to translate the visions of Sharjah Government into innovations and action plans on the ground, training them to develop solutions in order to face the business challenges, make appropriate decisions, and manage teams effectively in order to achieve a qualitative shift in services and business quality.
